Wudang Traditional Short Staff
This is traditional Wudang weapons training. Wudang Shan (Wudang Mountain) is a hub where various lineages of Wudang Monks gather to live and train. Our lineage falls under “Dragon Gate” and our weapons training focuses mainly in the short staff (13 grips / ~45 inches) and the Spear.
Other Wudang lineages include: San Feng, Tian Gang, Xuan Wu, Qing Xu, Tai Yi.
In Traditional Chinese Martial Arts, the short staff is the “longest short weapon” and also the “shortest long weapon.” Often times it is just referred to as 13 grips (十三把).
Curriculum of the Short Staff includes:

- The 24 Postures
- Yin Hands Cross Set
- Yang Hands Cross Set
- Double Cross Set
- Point Towards the Northern Star
- 4 Traditional Forms
- The Five Yin Grips
- Seven Hands Form
Each form is designed to enhance a specific attribute on fighting with the short staff, these techniques include: Attacking from all directions, switch grip, sliding grip, variation of angles, different attacking and defending techniques!
